1/2B

smiley Welcome to 1/2B's Webpage.smiley

Hello.smiley

My name is Mrs Barford and I am the lucky teacher of class 1/2B. In our class we have children from both Year 1 and Year 2, and we aim to have a fun, happy time making new friends and learning lots of new skills and information across the year.  Myself, Mrs Huyton and Miss McKenna are very excited to join the children on their learning journey this year. Miss Fort will also teach some lessons during the week.

Useful information

Our class P.E day is Wednesday. Children should keep their kit at school in a named bag. It would help if ear-rings were left at home on this day or plasters were used to cover them.

Reading books will be brought home regularly to enjoy and practise at home. Please hear your child read at often as possible, as those who read at home make much faster progress across the curriculum.

Spelling homework will be sent home each Friday. Your child will have a little test on these words the following Friday.

Water bottles can be brought to school each day. Please ensure they are labelled with names.

Could you please ensure all items of clothing are labelled with your child's name. Children can get very upset if they cannot identify their own things.

Keep checking this webpage and Class Dojo as it will be updated regularly with news of what we have been up to in class.

Thank you :)

The information below is from last year and waiting to be archived, but please have a look to see the type of activities we enjoyed last year in 1/2B.

Our last term will be a busy one! Our topic is called Buckets and spades.

We learnt about the Queen to celebrate her Platinum jubilee.

The children as working hard to earn awards for lots of amazing progress. Well done class!

We have been learning all about 2D and 3D shape in our maths lessons.

Lego challenge: the children aimed to succeed at lego challenges to demonstrate their listening and co-operation skills.

Our summer term has got off to a great start with a super trip out to Smithills Farm in Bolton. The children had an amazing day and were so enthusiastic and well behaved on their first ever school trip. Well done everyone!

Welcome back to our Spring Term :)

Every child in school took part in a classroom quiz to earn housepoints this week. Overall this term the Greenway Tigers have won, and they will enjoy a fun party with all their house members, and wear non-uniform to school that day..

In DT we have been doing research which vegetables we like. We will use this information to design and make a delicious salad for our friend to help them be healthy.

We loved World Book Day :)

During our DT lessons we have designed and made explorer buggies for our toys. We have considered where the buggy will be travelling, safety equipment and if it will need a roof to protect from water or sun. We have learnt lots of new skills such as how to cut wood, and how to allow wheels to move freely. We will test them this week to see which travels the best and is well made.

We have been learning about how to stay safe online. We know to be nice to other people when we type messages, and not to let others know our names, addresses and school.

We have been improving our maths skills with an app called Numbots. We are trying very hard to respond quickly to the calculations. We can log on at home too by using the passwords stuck in our reading records.

We are working hard on our multiplication this term in class. We are practising counting in 2, 5 and 10's.

We loved playing in our outdoor area again this week now the weather has improved a little :)

Well done to all our Year 1 children who have been busy developing their balance bike skills across 4 sessions this week.

We have started our Eco Week work by searching outside for 'nature treasure' which we then used creatively in our artwork.

Christmas has arrived in 1/2B.

The travelling panto came to our school. We loved watching the Clockmaker's Christmas.

We had a great time at the panto today. Beauty and the Beast was lots of fun. We made lots of noise and loved watching the singing and dancing.

Mrs Hanslip has been teaching us some special ways of moving so we can each make an amazing gymnastics routine this term.

We have so many children working hard to earn certificates this half term. Keep up the good work everyone.

We loved dressing up as people who are our Hero's for Children in Need. Can you guess who we all are?

We saw some amazing odd sock combinations in school today. They represent how special and unique we all are, a super start to our friendship week .

We are great at number work :)

What a scary sight in school today!!

We are still watching out for seasonal changes. We found all sorts of amazing things in the garden area.

This week we have designed our own school badge and have made a printing block of it, so we can reproduce it lots of times.

Our children are earning lots of certificates this half term. Keep up the great work everyone.

Our Year 2 children loved our african dancing session. We have great rhythm :)

Isn't it lovely when a child is so proud of their work :)

We have had a busy first week back, getting to know each other and learning new things.

We have been investigating outside looking for evidence of seasonal changes. We tried some leaf rubbings and looked carefully at the berries growing on the plants.
