Let the learning adventure begin….
YUMMY YUMMY PANCAKES
This week we have been learning all about pancake day and healthy eating. With the help of Mr Wolf, the children have wrote shopping lists, so we knew what we needed to buy to make pancakes. We wrote out the instructions so we knew how to make them and then with the help of Miss Alston and Miss Thompson we made pancakes! Over the week we have also explored different food groups and we have discussed which we should eat a lot of because they are healthy, and things we shouldn't eat a lot of because they are unhealthy.
What fabulous first week back!
Chinese New Year
This week we have been learning all about CNY. The children have enjoyed making cards, learning how to write numbers, learning how to use chopsticks, making wishes and creating dragon dances.
Today we had our own CNY party! The children took part in dragon dancing, puppet making and food tasting. What a fabulous day we have had!
Dinosaurs
For the past 2 weeks we have been learning all about dinosaurs. The children are now dinosaur experts. The children have explored different types of dinosaurs, what dinosaurs like to eat and where are they now. The children have been fascinated learning about the different types, especially the meat eaters!
Well done to all of our children for a fabulous week of learning.
Winter walk
As we are now in the season of Winter, we decided to take the children on a winter walk to see what signs of winter we could find. The children noticed how cold it was so we needed to wrap up. They noticed frost on the floor and the trees had no leaves. We suggested making a winter tree picture. The children were tasked with collecting twigs so that we could make a winter tree back in the classroom. What a super job they did!
Eco week
Reception took part in ECO week! Across the week we explored the dangers our ocean faces and what the term recycling means. The children were fascinated to learn it means we take something old and turn it into something new. We had lots of busy bee's across the week, using our junk modelling to make something new. We have had handbags, telescopes, purses, pencil cases and lot of other fabulous creations!
Our town, our home!
We have been exploring all about Padiham and what it is our community. Across the week we have learnt about the different types of homes people may live in. The children loved designing their own home. We then took the children into the local area and asked them to complete some observational drawings of houses in Padiham.
Brush brush brush your teeth
This week we have explored the importance of brushing our teeth. The children really enjoyed practising themselves. Look at all of their pearly whites!
We Like to Party!
Today we celebrated in true party style! We got into the party spirit with games like pass the parcel, musical statues, musical bumps, and lots more. After all the fun in class, we headed to the Key Stage 1 disco party where we danced our socks off. Not forgetting our very special delivery off Father Christmas.
Christmas Festivities
Today we enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner in school. There were lots of full tummies afterwards, and the children loved wearing their Christmas hats and listening to Christmas music while they ate their lovely lunch.
It was a wonderful way to celebrate together and get into the festive spirit!
Christmas Stay and Play.
Today we welcomed our grown‑ups into class, and we had such a fantastic time together. We enjoyed playing outside, designing our own Christmas jumpers, exploring all of our classroom areas, and creating festive Christmas printing pictures.
It was a joy to share our learning and activities with you. Thank you so much for coming to visit us and making the day so special!
Our local area
Yesterday we took our Reception children to Gawthorpe Hall. A National Trust attraction on our doorstep (literally). We set off from school with our wellies on ready to splash and stomp in muddy puddles and boy did we get muddy. The children loved exploring, playing games and running around. We had lots of fun!

WE HAVE CHICKENS!
After lots of careful planning our Headteacher finally decided to buy us chickens. We have 4 lovely chickens that have thier own area on our playground to roam freely. When supervised, the children are able to play and explore in this area with the chickens. We took our Reception children up and what fun we had! Some of the chickens were very cheeky and tried to peck our shoes, but we were really brave as this didn't hurt.
Pirates
For the past 2 weeks we have been exploring the topic of Pirates.
Firstly we learnt how a pirate talks and what a pirate does. Then we learnt about the famous pirates Blackbeard and Pirate Anne. The children have been fascinated learning all about how evil Blackbeard was and finding out girls weren't allowed to be pirates. We continued practising our phonics sounds and we even had a go at writing a list of things pirates will need. In maths we practised counting treasure, we had to do this very carefully so we could figure out if some of our treasure had been stolen.
