Our outdoor classroom
Our Outdoor Area
Our Outdoor Classroom is made up of two areas. We have our classroom under the sky and a covered area where we can access a range of sensory and creative activities if it is too windy outside. We learn outdoors in all weathers so it is important we always have a suitable coat and clothing! In school we have aprons and onesies for the children to wear in water and messy play.

Outdoor Learning Areas
Our sand pit and mud kitchen are areas where our children build on their gross motor skills by digging and exploring. Imagination and communication and language also flourish within these areas building on our children’s ideas and language skills.
Sand Pit, Mud Kitchen and Fairy Garden
Our climbing wall enables our children to grow in confidence and upper arm strength. The gross motor skills gained by this activity will aid all our pupils with fine motor activities. The Den is perfect for outdoor reading, mark making and sharing play with friends. Our planter is used to grow our chosen vegetables too! We love to grow potatoes as we learn about where our food comes from and what plants need to grow. Furthermore our array of construction materials allows our children to build in a variety of ways! We build dens, pirate ships, cars, castles and many more creations on a large scale!
Planter, Climbing Wall, Den and Outdoor Construction
Our mark making areas give our children the opportunity to write and draw outside in a range of mediums (whether it be chalk, water, pencil or on a whiteboard!). The music area is loved by all children and enables them to explore a range of sounds on various instruments and familiar objects. The water wall is accessed all year round sparking our children's imaginations with role play and extending knowledge of capacity and weight.
Mark Making Areas, Music and Our Water Wall
Our sensory area is perfect to access more messy play all year round! We have a water tray, sand tray and lots of lovely containers and provision to explore in each. We also have two tough trays which enable us to create more sensory activities using lots of tactile resources such as slime, shaving foam and textured elements within our small world set ups. Here we keep all our suits and wellies where the children can access them independently. In this area we have lots of role play outfits and accessories alongside a marking making area, easel and small area for reading and outdoor books.
