Reception

Welcome to our Reception class page!

Your children are just beginning their most exciting learning journey and what an adventure it will be. We are very lucky to have a wonderful team in Reception that work hard to develop a love for learning in all of our children and help children unlock their potential. In Reception we love to share learning and our learning successes. Here you will find regular updates about children’s learning, achievements and celebrations, as well as information regarding upcoming news and events.

Remember our door is always open so please do not hesitate to speak with us if you have any queries, concerns or questions.

Let the learning adventure begin….

πŸ‚ Autumn Adventures! πŸ‚

Autumn has arrived, and we have been excited to begin exploring our new topic all about this wonderful season! The children have been learning about the changes that happen during autumn and spotting the different signs of the season around us.

Throughout the week, the children have enjoyed lots of autumn-themed activities. They have been creating artwork using colourful autumn leaves, making adorable hedgehog crafts, and mixing up delicious “autumn soup” in the water tray. To finish off our learning, we went on an exciting walk around the school grounds to hunt for signs of autumn and discover how our environment is changing.

We have loved welcoming the new season and can't wait for more autumn adventures!

World Values Day

Today, we were delighted to welcome a very special visitor to school as part of our World Values Day celebrations. One of our parents kindly came in to share their important role in the community as a firefighter.

The children loved learning about how firefighters help keep people safe and hearing all about the important work they do every day. The excitement didn't stop there though. Our visitor brought a real fire engine for the children to explore!

The children had a fantastic time climbing aboard the fire engine, spraying water from the hose, and listening to the sirens. It was a memorable experience that inspired lots of curiosity and helped the children learn more about the people who help and care for our community. πŸš’πŸ˜Š

Arrr, me hearties!

Over the next two weeks, we will be setting sail on an exciting pirate adventure! So far, the children have had lots of fun learning how to talk like pirates, dress like pirates, and search for hidden treasure using telescopes. They have been incredibly creative and have even designed and made their own telescopes to support their treasure hunts.

We have also learned about the famous pirate Blackbeard and discovered why he was known as one of the fiercest pirates of them all!

Next week, our adventure will continue as we explore treasure maps and learn how pirates used them to find hidden treasures. We wonder... could there be some treasure hidden somewhere around our school? We'll have to keep our eyes peeled and see what treasures we can discover!

The Colour Monster Goes to School

Over the past two weeks, our topic has been The Colour Monster Goes to School. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring colours and emotions through this wonderful story, helping them to recognise and talk about their own feelings.

We have used the story to inspire a range of exciting activities, including mark making in shaving foam and sand to develop our early writing skills. The children have also explored patterns using shapes, colours and counting bears, building their mathematical understanding through play.

As part of our learning about emotions, we created our own feelings jars to "bottle up" feelings of happiness and calmness, encouraging the children to think about what makes them feel positive and secure.

It has been lovely to see how much the children have grown in confidence over the past few weeks. They are becoming increasingly familiar with our school routines, forming new friendships and settling beautifully into school life.

Well done, Reception! We are so proud of you all. πŸŒˆπŸ’›

Well done to all of our Reception children on a fantastic first week at school! They have been incredibly brave and have settled in wonderfully. We have had so much fun together, and the week has been filled with joy, laughter, and lots of happy moments. It has been lovely to see new friendships already beginning to blossom.

We would also like to thank our parents and families for their fantastic support during this important transition. Your encouragement and partnership have helped make the children’s first week such a positive and successful experience.

Take a look at some of the special memories we captured throughout the week! πŸ“Έβœ¨
