At Padiham Primary school, we follow The Lancashire themed Curriculum.
It allows the implementation of the 2014 National Curriculum.
It reflect the principles underpinning effective learning that is relevant and purposeful for the 21st Century.
- Identifies the key learning within each national curriculum subject area to ensure effective progression across the primary phase;
- Provides a yearly progression in which key learning is mapped within and across themes;
- Includes detailed themed units comprising main subjects, additional subjects and ongoing subjects for each half term across the year.
- The Key Learning documents are based on the programmes of study from the new National Curriculum and pinpoint the key pieces of learning in each year group or phase. They build upon the statutory elements to provide teachers with more specific guidance, further examples or additional and relevant objectives to ensure clarity, cohesion and continuity.
As we are a one and a half form entry school, we work on a two year rolling programme. This ensures that all programmes of study are covered over the course of a key stage/ lower/upper.
Links are made through the themes to cover all other curriculum areas with a main lead subject focus throughout each topic.
A more detailed view of our termly themes can be found on the class pages.
