Create a picture using dots. You could use a pencil/pen/gel pens/coloured pencils/crayons/chalk/felt tip pens/markers/paintbrush and paint/cotton buds dipped in paint. You may want to use a mixture of these or something completely different. SURPRISE ME! I can't wait to see your masterpieces!

Draw Vashti, the little girl in The Dot story, in the middle of your page. Down the left hand side of your drawing, use amazing adjectives to describe Vashti's character at the start of the story. Down the right hand side of your drawing, use amazing adjectives to describe how Vashti's character changes through the story (see example below). She starts out frustrated and angry because she thinks she can’t draw, but by the end she is a fantastic artist!

The Girl with the Yellow Bag has a magic bag in which she places recyclable objects. When she opens the bag, wonders appear. This shows how rubbish can be transformed into beautiful things. Pause the video each time she places an object into her bag and ask your child to predict what wonder they think it will emerge from the bag as (i.e. a feather transforms into flying birds).
Activity:
Draw and colour a series of six pictures (one in each box) on the storyboard template. Your pictures must retell the story of The Girl with the Yellow Bag but the child should be yourself with a bag of your choice. What recyclable objects will you put in your bag? what wonders will they emerge as? I can't wait to find out! Please share these with me.

It is my absolute pleasure to welcome both children and parents to class 3W. I, Miss White, am the class teacher and I am thrilled to be supported by Mrs Howell. We also have the privilege of being joined by Miss Fort, who will be supporting us on Monday mornings and teaching in class on Thursday afternoons.
