Reception

Welcome to our Reception class page!

Your children are just beginning their most exciting learning journey and what an adventure it will be. We are very lucky to have a wonderful team in Reception that work hard to develop a love for learning in all of our children and help children unlock their potential. In Reception we love to share learning and our learning successes. Here you will find regular updates about children’s learning, achievements and celebrations, as well as information regarding upcoming news and events.

Remember our door is always open so please do not hesitate to speak with us if you have any queries, concerns or questions.

Let the learning adventure begin….

Little Red Hen needed our help! She asked if we would help her make bread, of course the children were delighted to help. Yum yum the bread was delicious!

For the past 2 weeks we have been exploring the word healthy and what we can do to keep our bodies healthy. With the help our Handa, from the story Handa's Surprise, we have tasted different fruits to see which we do and do not like!

Easter fun! We have been making Easter cards and decorating Easter eggs for our egg competition. It is lovely to see children's creativity shine through.

Welcome back!

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas break. It has been lovely listening to the children share news about all the fun they have had over Christmas. For our first week back, our topic was Eco week. We explored what it means to be kind to our planet. The children practised recycling and explored the different materials that can be recycled.

We also created our own light source, the children were amazed when they shone the torch and the box lit up.

Thank you to all of our wonderful parents for attention our Christmas stay and play...what a super turn out! We hope you had just as much fun as we did.

At Padiham Primary school our goal is to continue to form and build on positive relationships with all of our parents.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Reception Team.

People who help us

This week we have introduced a new topic. We are learning about different people who help us in our community. We have explored different job roles and discussed why each job is so important and what they do to help us. The children have really enjoyed trying out different roles.

I've never seen as many children get arrested before for not tidying up the classroom and don't worry if you are feeling unwell. The reception children have made brilliant doctors and nurses.

Take a look at some of the fun we have had!

Castles

For the next couple of weeks we will be learning about castles. The children will explore what it was like to live in a castle, the types of people who lived in a castle and the different parts to a castle.

Over the week, the children will show off their creativity and create their own castles as well as develop their imagination in our new castle role-play area.

Already we have lots of kings and queens in reception! smiley

Tots on tyres - This week the children have had the opportunity to learn how to ride a bike....they had a wheelie good time!!!

Diwali

This week we have been learning about the celebration of Diwali, the festival of light. The children have explored how Diwali is celebrated, who celebrates it and how the celebration is similar/different to other celebrations such as Christmas and Birthdays.

The children have enjoyed making firework pictures, tasting different foods that may be eaten during Diwali and making rangoli patterns.

Ahhhoooyyy!

For the next 2 weeks our topic is pirates. The children will be hunting for treasure sounds, creating treasure maps, creating pirates, painting pirate ships as well as creating their own pirate ship which we will test to see if it floats or sinks.

Take a look at some of our learning so far.

This week our reception children had their very first PE lesson. Wow were we impressed!

The children tried very hard to get themselves dressed independently (we only had a few pumps on the wrong feet). Mrs Hanslip, one of our PE coaches, taught us some fantastic fundamental skills and we loved moving to music and improving our jumping skills.

What a fabulous first two weeks we have had....
