Reception
Welcome to our Reception class page!
Your children are just beginning their most exciting learning journey and what an adventure it will be. We are very lucky to have a wonderful team in Reception that work hard to develop a love for learning in all of our children and help children unlock their potential. In Reception we love to share learning and our learning successes. Here you will find regular updates about children’s learning, achievements and celebrations, as well as information regarding upcoming news and events.
Remember our door is always open so please do not hesitate to speak with us if you have any queries, concerns or questions.
Let the learning adventure begin….
People who help us
This week we have been learning about different heroes, not all heroes wear capes. There are lots of people that help us in different ways. The children have been eager to learn about the police, firefighters, doctors, nurses, teachers, dentists, postal workers and many more. As a class we have explored each job and how they help us. The children were thrilled to try on different costumes and pretend to be one of these heroes!
SPLISH SPLASH! Look at our Reception children learning to swim in the pop-up swimming pool.
Castles
For the past couple of weeks we have been learning all about castles. The children have been exploring who might live in a castle, what it was like to live in a castle and different parts of a castle. The children have loved dressing up as queens, princesses and knights! We even had a go at making our own crowns....let us introduce the kings and queens of Padiham Primary School!
Happy Halloween
What a fabulous day we have had. The children all looked amazing in their costumes.
We have spent the day casting spells, making potions, creating spooky ghosts, painting fireworks and dancing at the disco!
Diwali
This week we have been learning all about the celebration, Diwali - the festival of lights. We have learnt what happens during the celebration. Did you know, they clean their house and decorate it, they draw rangoli patterns on the floor, they light candles, they give money and have a party.
We even had a look at some of the food eaten during Diwali. We tried naan breads, samosas, and Bhajis. Yum Yum!
We aren't scared of heights!
This week in PE we have put all our skills to the test and explored the climbing frame. The children were extremely brave. They carefully and safely climbed up, down and around the climbing frame. They were so proud of themselves!
Go Reception.
Black History Month
To celebrate Black History Month we had a special visitor to teach us all about African drumming.
We learnt the history of drumming, where the drums came from, how to play them and how villages used them to communicate. The children loved making different sounds and creating a piece of music.
Autumn
To kickstart our new topic, we took the children on an Autumn walk. The children enjoyed exploring our local surroundings and looking for signs of autumn. The children were fascinated with the different coloured leaves.
This week we will be learning all about autumn, hibernation, numbers 1 2 3 and the sounds g/o...what a busy week!
Well hasn't the weather taken a turn....we are well and truly into the season of Autumn.
After a busy afternoon of exploring outside, we asked the children what could we do to warm up.
HOT CHOCOLATE!
The children were thrilled to get cosy with their friends, have hot chocolate and listen to a story.
This week we have continued our topic of monsters!
We have explored the sounds (s,a,t,i), practised copying and continuing patterns and learnt all about special people in our lives. To finish off a spectacular week we spent the afternoon on our school trim trail.
