  • Important test dates for the Summer Term

    Wed 23 Mar 2022 S Liggins

    Good morning.
As you may know all statutory assessment tests for primary school children will go ahead this year for the first time since 2019. Please see the following information to find out if and when you child will be involved in the statutory tests.
    Statutory Tests
Year 6 SATs start the week beginning 9th of May.
Year 2 SATs start the week beginning 16th of May
Year 1 Phonics Screening Check starts the week beginning 6th June.
Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check starts the week beginning 13th of June.
If you have a child in any of the above year groups it is very important that they attend school in the allocated weeks and are in school on time as some assessments start first thing in the morning. Please note that as these are statutory assessments school can not change the dates in which the tests have to be administered.
    Other year groups
Children in other year groups throughout school will also complete end of year assessments within school at various times. School can be more flexible in the administration of these tests.
    Kind regards
Miss Liggins Acting Deputy Head Teacher

  • Half term message

    Wed 09 Feb 2022 S Liggins

    Good morning.
Firstly, a reminder that we break up for the half term holidays on Friday this week at the normal time.
All pupils will return to school on Tuesday 22nd of February. Staff only, will be in school on Monday 21st for First Aid Training.
This half term has been another challenge as we aim to offer as normal a routine and curriculum to the children against the complications that COVID still presents.
Hopefully this will improve further in the second half term up to the Easter holidays.
A huge thank you to all of the staff for their dedication and hard work in this last half term. The determined team effort to raise levels of attainment and improve outcomes for all of the children is greatly appreciated.

Attached is the latest letter from the Chief Medical Officer for Lancashire if you require further guidance about COVID,
The last few months have been a testing time for all of us; staff, parents and pupils. I hope that the half term holiday is a chance to catch up with 'better times'.
    Enjoy your break.
    Kind regards
Miss Liggins Acting Deputy Head Teacher

  • Latest update from the Director of Public Health for Lancashire

    Thu 16 Dec 2021 S Liggins

    Good afternoon,
Please see the following advice that has been sent into schools by the Director of Public Health for Lancashire following the government's announcement that the COVID alert level has been raised from 3 to 4.
    Thank you.
Miss Liggins Acting Deputy Head Teacher

As you will be aware, England has moved to Plan B measures in response to the rapid spread of
the new Omicron variant of Covid-19. On Sunday, the chief medical officers for England,
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland recommended that the UK's coronavirus alert level was
raised from three to four following an exponential rise in the number of Omicron cases,
prompting the government to ramp up the delivery of the booster programme.

    Testing
One of the most important things we can do to manage the virus through routine testing over the
festive period, and before the return to school in the New Year, using free, rapid lateral flow
tests. If you are planning to meet friends and family who do not live in your household, either in
an indoor or outdoor setting, then please take a lateral flow test before you do so.
Before your child returns to school, it is important that they take a lateral flow test. If test result is
positive, then isolate immediately and book a confirmatory PCR test. Only leave home to take
the test. You must also inform your child's school.
If your child has one or more of the following Covid-19 symptoms they must isolate and book a
    PCR test immediately:
    1. a high temperature
    2. a new, continuous cough
    3. loss or change to your sense of smell or taste
If your child's PCR test result is positive, they must isolate from the day their symptoms began
and for the next 10 days. If your child has other symptoms and are in doubt, take a PCR test and
keep them home like you normally would if they were unwell.
    Close contacts
From Tuesday 14 December, people who are fully vaccinated and identified as a contact of
someone with Covid-19 – whether Omicron or not – should take a rapid lateral flow test every
day for 7 days to help slow the spread of Covid-19.
Read the government's guidance for contacts of people with confirmed Covid-19 infection here.
    Additional measures
We are continuing to support our schools in maintaining good ventilation, infection prevention
and control measures. We will continue to follow the government's guidance, as set out in its
'Contingency framework: education and childcare settings'. This may mean that decisions are
taken by the school in collaboration with Lancashire's public health team to put in place
additional measures dependent on a settings' individual circumstances.
I would once again like to ask you to continue to support staff as they navigate this period.
January brings a new year, but it will also bring new challenges. By working together, I am sure
we can overcome them. Have a wonderful Christmas and all the best for the New Year.
    Yours sincerely
    Dr Sakthi Karunanithi

    Good morning
Well we have made it to our last week before the Christmas holidays!

This week we are still busy in school with the Christmas Party for our Infant Children tomorrow, Party day for our Junior children on Wednesday, School Disco after school on Wednesday for both Infants and Juniors and Toy Day on Friday. Infant children may come in their own clothes on Tuesday and if they are attending the disco also on Wednesday too. Junior children can come in their own clothes on Wednesday.
Just a reminder that our usual after school clubs are only running today and tomorrow, There will be no after school clubs on Wednesday and Thursday of this week and they will restart on Monday 10th of January.
We finish school on Friday of this week earlier than normal at 2pm. Please make any necessary arrangements for your children to be collected from school at this earlier time.
School reopens on Wednesday 5th of January.
Please note that any communication about sickness/absence/ COVID must be had with the school office and not through Dojo to teaching staff.
