    Fri 27 Feb 2015

    World Book Day Is Coming!

Children's Book Week will take place in the week beginning Monday, 2nd March. Our theme this year is Pirates and children in each class will be taking part in a variety of cross-curricular activities to develop their love of reading.

On World Book Day, Thursday 5th March, children are asked to come to school dressed as a pirate.  We will be presenting two children in each class with book prizes for the most interesting and original costumes.

We look forward to seeing some wonderful costumes!

  • Padiham's Got Talent!

    Thu 26 Feb 2015
Well done to all the amazing children who took part in Padiham's Got Talent. The audience was entertained with singing, dancing, bell ringing, comedy and even a puppet act. You were all great, and the votes were very close. Ciara received the most votes and became our 2015 winner for her solo singing of 'A Whole New World'.
  • Inclusion Event

    Wed 25 Feb 2015

Ten pupils from Padiham Primary represented our school this week in this terms inclusion event. We were very lucky to have two community Burnley Football coaches who delivered two of the activity stations of Football dribbling and a spacial awareness activity. The final two stations involved the children playing Football whilst keeping their knees on the floor and the final station was very similar to Hockey dribbling and scoring.

All the children had a fantastic time and even got to take home a certificate for their outstanding efforts during the event. Well done!

  • Burnley Engineering Challenge....

    Wed 25 Feb 2015
Children in Year 5 and 6 and Class 1/2B have been very busy this term. They are taking part in the Burnley Engineer Challenge. Apprentices from Aircell have been working alongside the older children to make vehicles that will climb a ramp. Adding the electrical components to power the vehicles has been very tricky! The younger children have designed and made vehicles for traditional story characters, and they have included a safety feature which will stop their toy from falling out of the vehicle as it travels down a ramp. We have carried out testing to see what distances the vehicles travel, and how well made they are. The children with the most successful vehicles will go to Turf Moor on the 17th March, where a celebration event is taking place with all the other Primary Schools that are taking part in the challenge.

  • Year 5/6 High Five Netball tournament

    Mon 23 Feb 2015

Well done to the year 5 and 6 Netball team who worked extremely hard in their cluster schools Netball tournament and came 2nd!. Their first game was against Ightenhill primary school  and Padiham took lead with a 1-0. Within the final 30 seconds Ightenhill managed to equalise with the final score being 1-1.

Their next game was against Lowerhouse junior school, Padiham attempted two shots, which didn't manage to make it through the ring, leaving the final score 0-0.

Padiham's third game was against the 'undefeatable' Wellfield primary school and fortunately for us they didn't manage to keep this title as Padiham put in a very strong performance and managed to attempt six shots, with 3 going in, making the final result 3-3.
Our final game was against St-Leonards primary school and with Padiham's adrenaline at an all time high, they managed to come back fighting with a 1-0 victory. Well done to all 9 of you for coming 2nd place! You have all done your school proud.

  • Eco Week 2015

    Thu 19 Feb 2015
Our first week of the Spring term has seen all the children taking part in environmental education activities during our Eco Week. The School Council held a competition to challenge the children to make something useful by re-using 'rubbish'. There were lots of brilliant ideas, from plant pots and sock puppets to money boxes. Well done to Ella and Connor who won the prizes for their bird feeder and Bat Cave. Next week Year's 5 and 6 will continue their Eco journey by visiting Global Renewables in Preston, which is where all the bin lorries in Lancashire take our household rubbish to be processed.
