  • Book Bonanza

    Thu 25 Jun 2015

We have just taken delivery of a superb collection of brand new books to restock our library. This is part of our school's commitment to promoting reading for pleasure.

Some of the books were donated by Pearson, as part of our National Reading Culture Award, and some were provided by Scholastic, as commission for running a book fair earlier this year.

  • Bikeability Training Year 5

    Thu 25 Jun 2015
Well done to the 27 Year 5 pupils who took part in Bikeability Training. Pennine Active came into school to train pupils. The training was free under a Government scheme. Part one took place on the school yard and if pupils passed this they then took part in part two where they went out on local roads for their test. The children really enjoyed the training and now all feel a lot more confident in road safety on their cycles. Thank you to Pennine Active for training us.
  • Winner of the Read for My School Whole-School Reading Culture Award, North West

    Wed 24 Jun 2015

Well over 3,500 schools took part in Read for My School this year, which is a national reading competition for children aged 7 - 13, delivered by Pearson and Book Trust with support from the Department for Education

We are delighted to say that Padiham Primary School has been named as the North West regional winner of the Read for My School Whole-School Reading Culture Award 2015.

This award recognises the whole-hearted participation of our KS2 pupils in Read for My School this year and also the contribution made by all the staff members at Padiham Primary School who have helped to create a culture of reading within the school.

The North West regional event was held on 9 June, at Archbishop Temple School, Preston. Children and teachers attended the event and were presented with the award of a voucher worth £1,000 to spend with Pearson Education by author Ellie Irving.

Our school’s application really impressed the judges and will be considered for the National Reading Culture Award 2015.

Year 3/4 Netball - Padiham vs Lowerhouse

    |

The newly established year 3 and 4 Netball team played their first game on Wednesday against Lowerhouse Junior school and won their debut game 9-1! Their commitment at playtimes, lunchtimes and afterschool clubs reflected on their fantastic performance and the school is very proud of their positive attitude on and off court.

Three year 6's gave up their time to umpire this game and they did a great job!

Thank you to all the parents that came to support the school, the children for your fantastic performance and behaviour, the three year 6's that umpired the game, Shuttleworth for allowing us to use your sportshall and your young leaders for managing the game.

The school would also like to say a special thank you to Mrs McInness's husband Mr McInness for taking some fantastic photo's on the day.
